I&O Storage Systems is a department of I&O Operations Support within I&O Service Operations.


I&O Storage Systems is composed of some twenty employees allocated between two teams, who


manage the entire centralised data storage infrastructure of the central systems in Belgium.


Storage Engineering is responsible for defining the architecture and design of the centralised storage


solutions and provides level 3 support.


Storage Support is responsible for deployment, operational follow-up and provides level 2 support.


The members of the two teams share the same workspace. This proximity allows proper coordination


and good communication between the two teams.


Our customers are essentially the platforms (iSeries platforms (AS400), Unix, Wintel and Zos


(Mainframe)), middleware (DB2, IMS, Oracle, SQL, SAP, etc.) and I&O Application Services.


Our task is to monitor technological evolution closely in order to meet the storage needs of our


company, which are constantly growing.


I&O Storage Systems consists of four areas of expertise:


· "Open Systems Disk & SAN" manages disks and SAN dedicated to Unix, Wintel and iSeries platforms.


· "Backup" manages the TSM backup servers and the configuration of TSM clients.


· "Mainframe Disk" manages the disks provided to the Zos platform as well as the dfSMS, dfHSM,


Stopx37 storage management software.


· "Mainframe Tape" manages the Tape Libraries (robots), the VSMs (Virtual Tape Library), as well as


management software applications such as CA/1 and HSC.


 


Objective:


· Guaranteeing level 2 support for the 15 TSM servers.


· Playing the role of Incident Solver according to the Incident Management process, in order to


solve the incidents relating to this environment while establishing a diagnosis and determining


the seriousness and priority and applying the measures to be taken in order to restore the


service.


· Playing the role of Change Requestor and Deployment Specialist following the Change and


Deployment Management processes.


Validating the installation or updating procedures supplied by the employees of Storage


Engineering and executing the requests for technical installation and the "Request for Change"


application validated by the CAB (Change Advisory Board).


Checking the proper execution of these "RFC (Request For changes)" change requests and as per


the case, implementing a standby plan.


· Playing the role of Configuration Administrator according to the Configuration Management


process. Guaranteeing the updating of the CMDB (Configuration Management Database)


regarding the infrastructure under administration.


· Participating in the validation of monitoring of the TSM servers and of the "Disaster Recovery"


procedures (Validation, testing and producing test reports).


· Elaborating or modifying scripts and programmes in Perl, Java script, VB script, HTML and Korn


shell.


· Elaborating or modifying scripts in JCL (Zos), manage the daily follow-up of the batch jobs of the


“Backup” environment applications with Control-M.


· Providing Capacity Management and the monitoring of TSM servers (allocation of the clients


between the servers; compliance with backup windows; follow-up of the occupation rate of pools


of disks and cassettes; follow-up of the execution of housekeeping tasks, etc.) Taking the


necessary corrective actions, pursuant to the instructions of colleagues in Storage Engineering.


· Integrating statistical data and producing capacity reports concerning the TSM environment.


· Providing level 3 support for TSM clients (level 2 support for TSM clients is provided by other


teams).


· Providing support for the TSM environment outside normal hours in a recurrent way (+/-1 week /


6 weeks), while being integrated into a role of guard.


 


Skills:


- Being bilingual at least in spoken Dutch/French and having a good knowledge of English.


- Experience in management of a large pool of TSM servers with a large number of clients


- Knowledge of the AIX and Zos systems and of their system management interfaces.


- In-depth knowledge of the following technologies: TSM 5.5; TSM Manager


- Having analytical skills.


- Ease of oral and written expression.


- Collaborating with colleagues in a constructive and professional manner.


- Having high potential for taking responsibility and being capable of executing assigned tasks independently.


- Ability to deal with stress within the framework of incident resolution.


- Being results-oriented, with particular attention to risks and to quality.
